End of the Year Letter

Friends,

It has been quite a year of change for our organization, formerly called The Christian-Jewish Council of Charleston. Our new name, The Charleston Interreligious Council (CIC) broadens our reach and desire to be more inclusive. The name change has generated positive comments from throughout the region and we feel it better represents us and our mission.

The purpose of this year-end letter is to thank you and to ask for your continued support of our goals, both financially and through your participation.

We continue to plan innovative programs with a variety of speakers representing different backgrounds, yet similar goals in building bridges among all faiths. We've generated new participants to our programs as shown by our recent Interfaith Thanksgiving Program held on November 20 at the St. Johannes Lutheran Church. This program included participating clergy, choirs and lay people from a variety of faith communities throughout Charleston and was the most well attended Thanksgiving Interfaith Service yet

Please consider attending our unique and upcoming programs, such as our third annual Food & Faith Program: A Dialogue Among Muslims and Jews on Monday evening, January 28, 2019 beginning at 6:30 PM. We will once again be co-sponsoring the Spirited Brunch with the Post & Courier and College of Charleston on Sunday afternoon, April 28. Additionally, we are looking forward to hosting a program in early May on Coptic Christians, along with ongoing programs such as our Tours of Sacred Places.

CIC has been busy developing a new website and are always open to new ideas, programs and people. We want to thank our past sponsors, Roper-Saint Francis Hospital-Mission Department and the Jerry and Anita Zucker Family Foundation Fund, as well as our advisory board and other donors.

We hope you will help us as we plan further exciting opportunities for education and understanding. We are a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization. Your gifts are tax deductible and will encourage and enable our work in the months and years ahead.

Please mail your donations to: The Charleston Interreligious Council. P.O. Box 30692, Charleston, SC 29417.

Please contact me with any thoughts or ideas. Thank you in advance for your generosity and best wishes for a happy New Year.

Cordially,
Kenneth A, Fox
President
